Warriors sign forward Al Thornton

OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Golden State Warriors have signed free-agent forward Al Thornton after he was released by the Washington Wizards earlier this week.

Golden State said Thursday that Thornton was expected to join the Warriors before Friday night's game with the Celtics in Boston.

The 27-year-old Thornton averaged 8.0 points, 3.2 rebounds and 21.8 minutes in 49 games this season for Washington.

He was selected 14th overall in the first round in 2007 draft by the Los Angeles Clippers.
