Manu Ginobili suffers quad contusion

The injuries are suddenly beginning to mount for the San Antonio Spurs.

The Spurs, already missing Tim Duncan because of a sprained left ankle, were without leading scorer Manu Ginobili for most of the second half of Sunday's 111-104 loss to Memphis.

Ginobili sustained a left quad contusion early in the second quarter after catching a knee from Grizzlies center Marc Gasol.

Ginobili left the game, but was able to make a quick appearance in the second half before leaving the contest for good.

"At first, when I came to the bench, I thought I was going to be OK," Ginobili told the San Antonio Express-News. "Then it stiffened up. I can't put my full weight on it."

The contusion is located above Ginobili's left knee and is not considered serious, yet is painful.

No timetable was given for how much time Ginobili might be sidelined. He even refused to rule himself out of Monday's game against Portland, which will be San Antonio's fourth straight without Duncan. They have lost the previous three.

"I'll get some rest and some treatment, and then we'll see how it feels tomorrow," Ginobili told the newspaper.
