L.A. led by as many as 19 in the 1st and 3rd quarters

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Forward Brian Grant had 22 points and 11 rebounds as the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Phoenix Suns 111-103 in preseason play Sunday night.

The Lakers (4-2) took the lead for good midway through the first quarter, using three straight buckets from Chris Mihm in opening a 19-9 lead at the 5:19 mark. Mihm had 15 points.

Los Angeles had six players in double figures, leading by as many as 19 points in both the second and third quarters.

Brian Cook scored 12, including three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, and Tierre Brown had 10.

Amare Stoudemire went 16-of-22 from the foul line in leading Phoenix with a game-high 24 points. But the Suns (4-1) led only once in the game, played at the Thomas & Mack Center at the
University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

UNLV standout Shawn Marion had 15 points in his return to Las Vegas, Steve Nash had 14 and six assists and Quentin Richardson had 11.

Kobe Bryant only saw action in the first and third quarters, finishing with 12 points, three assists and two rebounds in 24 minutes.
