Tony Parker wants to play

Guard Tony Parker, who has missed two games during the San Antonio Spurs' six-game road trip because of back tightness, will still attend the NBA All-Star Game and remains committed to playing.

Parker, who was sent home from Boston on Wednesday morning and did not play against the Celtics, will leave for New Orleans' All-Star Weekend on Friday morning. It will be his sixth appearance in the showcase.

Coach Gregg Popovich told the San Antonio Express-News that he'd leave the decision about playing in the All-Star Game up to Parker, who leads the Spurs with 17.7 points and 6.2 assists per game.

The Spurs also were without Manu Ginobili (hamstring) and forward Tiago Splitter (bruised shin) against the Celtics on Wednesday night.
