LeBron James' production company is on a winning streak, as Disney XD announced Tuesday that it was ordering a full season of "Becoming," an inspirational athlete profile series aimed at younger viewers.
James' Spring Hill Productions and ESPN Films are partners on the project, and James is an executive producer along with longtime business partner Maverick Carter.
It is the second TV show Spring Hill has recently had picked up, as Starz ordered a second season of "Survivor's Remorse," a drama about a star basketball player.
The pilot episode of "Becoming," which featured James' upbringing, aired in the fall.
"To be able to give content to kids, to be able to watch it and sit down with their families and see some of the people they look up to and see their backstories and understand it's not always been the limelight and understanding that we as well have been through hardships and been through trials and tribulations and places that a lot of our kids are going through today, it means a lot to me," James said Tuesday.
"I appreciate Disney for picking up the series, and we're going to get some really, really good athletes [for the show] -- both male and female -- and do our best to hit a lot of homes and TVs for these kids."
Spring Hill is also working on a game show project with NBC and a movie with Kevin Hart about an adult fantasy basketball camp.
