Pistons' Blake Griffin (ankle contusion) scratched, has MRI

Detroit forward Blake Griffin was a late scratch for the Pistons' 103-92 win over the Washington Wizards Thursday with a right ankle contusion.

The announcement was made about a half-hour before the Pistons moved within 4½ games of the Milwaukee Bucks for the last Eastern Conference playoff spot.

Griffin got an MRI on his ankle on Thursday, with results expected back Friday.

Griffin is averaging 19.8 points, 7.4 rebounds and 5.8 assists since being traded to Detroit on Jan. 29.
