          Kyrie Irving says that he is donating to charities that are working to feed New York City residents who are struggling to put food on the table amid the coronavirus pandemic.

          The Brooklyn Nets star wrote on Instagram on Monday that he is working with Feeding America, a nonprofit organization that works with food pantries and shelters, to launch a campaign that will ensure that people in need are able to get food. Irving said he is donating $323,000 to Feeding America and asked fans and family to contribute.

          Locally, Irving is partnering with City Harvest, a New York-based organization dedicated to feeding those in need, to ensure that 250,000 meals are distributed to New Yorkers.

          Thank you all for the birthday love, I'm extremely grateful for the support. Seeing the effects of COVID-19 reach our loved ones, our schools, our jobs, and access to food has really impacted me. I am excited to partner with @feedingamerica and @lineagelogistics to launch the Share A Meal campaign to help marginalized communities get the food resources they require during this time, and to work with our local partner @cityharvestnyc to distribute 250k meals to my neighbors in need across the NY area.           The number 323 is reportedly a nod to both Irving's birthday today -- March 23 -- and Kobe Bryant's No. 8 jersey (3+2+3).

          Irving signed with the Nets in July 2019 and underwent season-ending arthroscopic shoulder surgery in February.
