Zydrunas Ilgauskas treated for infection

MIAMI -- Miami Heat center Zydrunas Ilgauskas is expected to miss Monday's game against the San Antonio Spurs after being released from a Miami hospital Sunday following treatment for a foot infection.

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said Sunday that Ilgauskas was treated overnight and was scheduled to be released Sunday afternoon. Ilgauskas was treated for the infection after he stepped on a nail in his home on Friday. The veteran reserve center missed Saturday's home victory against the Memphis Grizzlies.

LeBron James, who has been Ilgauskas' teammate since they played together with the Cleveland Cavaliers, said he spoke to Ilgauskas by phone before Sunday's practice. James and Heat guard Dwyane Wade said Ilgauskas was in good spirits and they also joked that the 7-foot-3 Lithuanian shouldn't have tried to do work around the house during the season.

Ilgauskas has started 47 games this season but resumed a reserve role last month after he was replaced by Erick Dampier in the starting lineup. Ilgauskas has averaged 5.4 points and 4.3 rebounds in 16.7 minutes per game in his 13th NBA season.

The Heat did not have a time frame for Ilgauskas' absence.

The Heat has rotated three centers throughout the season, with Joel Anthony also in the mix at the position. Reserve center Jamaal Magloire filled in off the bench behind Dampier and Anthony on Saturday against the Grizzlies.
