OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- After a strong performance at the Kia Klassic this past weekend in Fullerton, Calif., the University of Arizona took sole position of the top spot in this weeks ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 poll. After sharing the top spot with Pac-10 rival UCLA last week, the Wildcats took the top spot by capturing 13 of the 18 first place votes. UCLA held strong at No. 2 with five first place votes and a total of 436 points. The University of Oklahoma, riding a 17-game winning streak, entered the top five this week for the first time this season at No. 4. Oklahoma State was the biggest mover in this week's poll, jumping five spots to No. 16 after a successful week that included a sweep of Kansas. The University of Texas tumbled out of the top five to No. 7 after losing three consecutive games at the Kia Klassic. The Longhorns will look to rebound this week when they open conference play versus Iowa State. Texas A&M took a tumble of their own, falling out of the top 20 to No. 22 after losing two of three this past week. The ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 poll is voted on by NCAA Division I coaches representing 15 different ASA regions and 12 different collegiate conferences. The poll is also voted on by selected softball media members. Records are as of March 16th. First-place votes are in parentheses.
