RECAP | BOX SCORE

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) _ Toot Young had 19 points and Dusty Pullian continued his perfect play, scoring 14 of his 17 points in the second half, as Chattanooga beat Georgia Southern 84-73 Saturday to make the Southern Conference tournament finals for the first time in four years.

The Mocs (17-12), the league's most successful team the past two decades with eight tournament titles and 12 trips to the championship game, go against first-time finalist North Carolina Greensboro for an NCAA tournament berth Sunday.

Young's first-half shooting _ he made four of five shots including two 3-pointers _ led Chattanooga to a 13-point lead, while Pullian's presence underneath stopped any chance of an Eagles (15-15) comeback.

Pullian hit all four of his shots and is now 19-of-19 in Chattanooga's past three games.

When Idris Harper threw in a 25-footer at the first-half buzzer, it began a run of eight consecutive baskets for Chattanooga that extended after the break the lead grew to 55-37 with 13:52 left.

Young had his last two 3-pointers during the streak, while Harper closed it with a smooth 3-point goal.

Georgia Southern, the league's dominant football power, was looking for its first-ever championship game. The Eagles twice got as close as eight points, the last time on Sean Peterson's two foul shots with 6:28 to go.

But Pullian put in a missed shot, Clyde McCully hit two foul shots and Pullian added a pair of free throws to give the Mocs a 73-60 lead with 5:15 left.

That's the way it was in this one. The Mocs could barely miss. They were 25-of-40 overall and 9-of-13 on 3-pointers. They made 25 free throws, one fewer than Georgia Southern took.

Harper had 16 points for Chattanooga. Pullian had 10 rebounds.

Peterson led Georgia Southern with 20 points, while Kashien Latham had 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Tim Parker gave Chattanooga a first-half lift off the bench. The Mocs were up 19-15 when Parker started a 14-4 run with two foul shots. He scored eight points during the run and closed it with a 3-pointer with 2:49 left in the half.
