RECAP | BOX SCORE

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) _ Isaiah Stewart hit a 3-pointer from the left corner with 4.2 seconds left Saturday night to give Siena a 79-76 win over Manhattan in the quarterfinals of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Association tournament.

Third-seeded Siena (20-10), which finished the regular season in a three-way tie for first place with Iona and Niagara, will play No. 7 Canisius in the semifinals Sunday. Canisius (19-10) upset the second-seeded Purple Eagles 72-70 earlier Saturday on Clive Bentick's last-second shot.

Manhattan (14-15), the sixth seed, played without Justin Jackette, its second-leading scorer, and it hurt. Jackette, who was averaging 11.4 points per game, hurt a knee in the final game of the season against Iona and watched from the bench in street clothes.

Stewart's shot spoiled Durelle Brown's final game for Manhattan. The senior, who scored 28 points, had tied it 76-all with 39.2 seconds left. He finished his career with 1,634 points, third all-time in school history.

Stewart finished with 17 points, Justin Miller 16, and Dwayne Archbold had 14 for Siena.

Bruce Seals had 20 points and Jared Johnson had nine points and 10 rebounds for Manhattan.

Siena led by as many as 10 points, but the Jaspers never gave up. When Stewart's 3 put the Saints up 70-63 with 4:58 left, Dave Holmes hit four free throws, Seals converted a follow shot, and Holmes added a 3 from the top of the key to pull Manhattan within 73-72 with 2:40 to go.

Considering the recent past, the victory was especially sweet for the Saints. Siena won 11 of its last 14 games, but two of those three losses were to Manhattan in a 10-day span.

The first, an 82-72 setback in late January, was the Saints' first loss of the season at home and only their third in 39 games at home. In the second game, the Saints scored only 14 points in the first half, had 23 turnovers, and lost 56-51.
