Powe, who is considered to be the No. 1 player on the West coast and a top 10 player nationally, averaged a double-double for the season as a junior and senior. Leon Powe averaged 29 points and 15 rebounds as a junior and led Oakland Tech to a 28-4 record and to the state Division I title game in 2002. "Leon is a powerful and skilled player," Cal head coach Ben Braun said. "He is mentally and physically tough, and he has been a winner on every team he has played for." Powe was the 2002 and 2003 Oakland Player of the Year. He has also earned numerous tournament MVP honors. The Parade All American led Oakland Tech to a stellar season. Powe will stay close to home and attend the University of California. Back to boys roster. |
