Broken right foot sidelines Borchardt

STANFORD, Calif. – Curtis Borchardt, a key reserve for No. 2 Stanford, will miss the rest of the season with a broken right foot.

Borchardt was injured two weeks ago in the Cardinal's win over Southern California. The same injury – also in a game against Southern California – forced the 7-foot sophomore from Redmond, Wash., to miss the final 11 games of last season. His offseason recovery was hampered when bone spurs developed in the foot, requiring surgery.

Borchardt usually was Stanford's first player off the bench this season. He was the Cardinal's top reserve scorer and rebounder, averaging 6.4 points and 4.2 rebounds in 16.5 minutes per game. His 19 blocked shots this season were second on the team.

After just two truncated seasons, Borchardt already is sixth on Stanford's career blocks list with 61.
