FORT WORTH, Texas -- Texas Christian administrators reportedly have met with a University of Kansas assistant about the university's men's basketball coaching job.

Neil Dougherty, an assistant coach under Roy Williams at Kansas, said he flew to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport on Monday to meet with TCU officials.

"I do know they want me to meet some people," Dougherty told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram in Tuesday's editions. "I'd say this is kind of a feeling-out process on both sides to see if we want to pursue it further."

Dougherty, who has helped Kansas sign eight McDonald's All-Americans, recruited several North Texas athletes including current players Keith Langford (North Crowley) and Bryant Nash (Carrollton Turner).

Eric Hyman, TCU's athletics director, declined to talk about specific candidates for the coaching job.

Dougherty, 40, has spent the past seven seasons with the Jayhawks.

TCU coach Billy Tubbs had said before the season that this would be his last with the Horned Frogs.
