This has mismatch written all over it. Then again, Florida struggled to a 13-6 decision in last year's confrontation. The Gators are in the driver's seat in the SEC East after beating Georgia. Will it be Jesse Palmer or Rex Grossman leading the Florida attack? Jabar Gaffney has been on fire and had a TD last week. Robert Gillespie came up big against Georgia with a TD run and TD catch. 369-269: Vanderbilt actually had 100 more yards of total offense in last year's game. 9: The Gators have won the last nine meetings, last losing to the Commodores in '88. 10-0: Steve Spurrier is 10-0 lifetime vs. Vandy.

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Fifth-ranked Florida, which has crept back into the national title picture, will not take Vanderbilt for granted in Saturday's Southeastern Conference game.

Coach Steve Spurrier need only remind his Gators of last season, when Florida struggled past the Commodores, 13-6, and was held to its lowest yardage total of the season (269). Two costly turnovers in Florida territory and a blocked punt prevented the upset by the Commodores, whose final drive stalled at the Florida 19.

Jared McGrath ran for 125 yards against the Gators, marking the last time the Commodores had a 100-yard rusher. McGrath needs 12 yards to reach 2,000 in his career.

Florida (7-1, 5-1 SEC East) has won its last three games and can be assured of a date in the SEC title game if it keeps winning. Florida also has a November 18 date with Florida State, a game with major national title implications.

Spurrier rotated Rex Grossman and Jesse Palmer at quarterback in last week's 34-23 win over Georgia and the pair combined for 247 yards and a TD pass. Those numbers should improve against a Vanderbilt defense that has allowed at least 28 points five times this season.

The Gators struggled on defense last week, but converted four turnovers into 15 points. Florida has forced 28 turnovers, tied for the most in the nation.

Vanderbilt (2-6, 0-5) was off last week after a 30-14 loss to South Carolina. Dan Stricker has four 100-yard receiving games this season and averages 98.5 yards for the season.

Florida leads the series, 22-9-2, and has won the last nine meetings.
