STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -- Nate Kaeding kicked a 26-yard field
goal in the second overtime, and Ryan Hansen intercepted a pass to
give Iowa a 26-23 victory over Penn State on Saturday.
Rashard Casey's pass on the first play of Penn State's
possession was intended for tight end Tony Stewart. The ball hit
Stewart, but Hansen dove to catch the ball and end the game.

Casey had a 6-yard touchdown run to give Penn State (4-6, 3-3
Big Ten) a 23-16 lead in the first overtime. Iowa (2-8, 2-4)
answered with an 11-yard touchdown run by Ladell Betts.
It was the first time either team had played an overtime game.
Ryan Primanti, who made three field goals in regulation, had a
chance to win on the last play of regulation, but his 56-yard
field-goal attempt fell just short.
The loss keeps coach Joe Paterno two games behind Bear Bryant
for major college victories. With 321 wins, Paterno is first among
active coaches.
Kyle McCann threw 232 yards with one touchdown and one
interception for the Hawkeyes, and Betts had 25 carries for 101
yards.
Casey had a career day before the interception, setting personal
bests with 27 completions on 51 attempts for 302 yards and one
interception.
Kaeding, whose four field goals tied a school record, kicked a
43-yard field goal with 6:17 left in the game to give Iowa a 16-13
lead.
Primanti answered with a 28-yard field goal to tie the game
16-16 with 2:59 left.
Penn State tied it at 13 with 13:56 left in the game when John
Gilmore caught a 2-yard touchdown pass from Casey.
Primanti kicked a 32-yard field goal with 3:53 left in the third
quarter to bring Penn State within 13-6.
Penn State didn't score until the final minute of the first
half, when Primanti's 42-yard field goal with 38 seconds left
closed the Iowa lead to 13-3.
Kyle McCann completed nine of his first 10 passes for 104 yards,
finding Kahlil Hill in the end zone from 6 yards out in the first
quarter to put Iowa up 7-0.
The Hawkeyes extended their lead to 10-0 with 11:08 left in the
first half when Nate Kaeding kicked a 48-yard field goal, his
longest of the season. Kaeding topped that with 1:38 left in the
half, kicking a 49-yard field goal to put Iowa up 13-0.
Iowa has won two of its last three against Penn State. In the
series, the home team has won just four of 15 games.
With the loss, Penn State is assured of missing a bowl game for
the first time since going 5-6 in 1988.
