MWC signs on with San Francisco, Seattle bowls

Associated Press

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Mountain West Conference teams will play in the San Francisco and Seattle bowls under multi-year deals announced Thursday.

The Mountain West's third-place team will play the Big East's third-, fourth- or fifth-place team in the San Francisco Bowl on Dec. 31 at Pacific Bell Park.

The fourth-place team in the Mountain West will play the Atlantic Coast sixth-place team in the Seattle Bowl on Dec. 30 at Washington State.

The MWC signed a four-year deal with the San Francisco Bowl and a five-year deal with the Seattle Bowl. Both games will be televised on ESPN.

The conference previously announced two other bowl deals. Its champion will play Conference USA's champion in the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tenn., on Dec. 31, and its second-place team will play the Pacific-10's fifth-place team in the Las Vegas Bowl on Christmas Day.

ESPN will televise both.
