Tardy's career night lifts Tigers

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- Ke-Ke Tardy had 20 points and nine rebounds -- both career highs -- as LSU (No. 11 ESPN/USA Today; No. 12 Associated Press) rallied to beat Kentucky 87-64 on Thursday night.

LSU (12-5, 3-2 Southeastern Conference) shook off an early 18-point deficit, coming back to outscore the Wildcats 45-22 in the second half.

It was the fifth-straight loss for Kentucky (4-12, 0-5).

Marie Ferdinand led LSU with 22 points, Stacey Newton had 16, and April Brown added 15. Angelia Crockett had nine assists.

LaTonya McDole led Kentucky with 16 points. Stephanie Stoglin added 12 and Shlia Helm had 10.

Kentucky looked determined to shake off its losing streak early. The Wildcats used an 18-6 run to take an 18-point lead at 28-10 with 10:43 remaining in the first half.

Kentucky shot 50 percent in the first half, and outrebounded the Tigers 24-17 in the period. But the Wildcats had nine turnovers in the last nine minutes of the half.

The Tigers rallied to tie it at 42 at the break. In the second half, LSU took a quick 46-42 lead and never trailed again

LSU not only outshot Kentucky in the second half, the Tigers took advantage of the Wildcats' miscues. Kentucky had 29 turnovers in the game 15 in the second half.
