ATHENS, Georgia (Ticker) -- Coco Miller scored 19 points and
Christi Thomas added 15 off the bench as fourth-ranked Georgia
recovered to defeat slumping Auburn, 77-60, in a Southeastern
Conference contest.
Miller made 7-of-15 shots from the field, including 3-of-5 from
3-point range, as the Lady Bulldogs (16-3, 4-1 SEC) won for the
14th time in the last 15 games. They were playing for the first
time since their 13-game winning streak was snapped by
Tennessee.
Tawana McDonald added 14 points and 14 rebounds for Georgia,
which pulled away in the second half after opening a 37-32 lead
at the break.
Georgia prevailed despite shooting just 38 percent (28-of-73)
from the field. The Lady Bulldogs won the game at the line,
making 16-of-22 free throws, compared to just 3-of-5 for Auburn.
LaRita Spencer scored 18 points and Lori Nero and Carol Smith
added 10 apiece for the Lady Tigers (13-7, 1-5), who suffered
their fifth straight loss. Three of the defeats have been by
double figures.
