AUBURN, Ala. (Ticker) -- Auburn snapped its five-game losing
streak in convincing fashion, handing No. 23 Mississippi State
its most lopsided loss of the season, 78-48, in an SEC matchup.
Carol Smith scored 19 points and Tasha Hamilton added 13 for the
Lady Tigers, who dominated every phase of the game.
Auburn (14-7, 2-5 SEC) shot 49 percent (34-of-70) from the field
and held a 50-26 rebounding edge, including 24 offensive boards
that led to 28 second-chance points.
The Lady Bulldogs were outscored by 15 points in each half and
shot just 30 percent (16-of-52) from the floor.
Jennifer Fambrough had 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting and Latoya
Thomas scored eight of her 12 points from the foul line for
Mississippi State (12-8, 1-6). Starting point guard Meadow
Overstreet endured a miserable game with just three points on
1-of-9 shooting and six turnovers.
The Lady Bulldogs lost their fourth straight game and their
fifth in six tries since a 9-2 start.
