TEMPE, Arizona (Ticker) -- Amanda Levens scored 15 points and
Melody Johnson added 14 and 12 rebounds as Arizona State used a
big first half to post a 67-57 victory over intrastate Pac-10
Conference rival No. 25 Arizona. Johnson scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the first half, when the Sun Devils (13-6, 5-2 Pac-10) built a 40-30 lead. Levens had 11 points after intermission as ASU held on for its fourth straight win. Betsy Boardman collected eight points and 10 rebounds and Cian Carvalho scored nine points for the Sun Devils, who likely knocked the Wildcats out of the top 25. Reshea Bristol scored 16 points, Elizabeth Pickney added 11 and Aimee Grzyb 10 for Arizona (14-5, 4-3), which has dropped three in a row since a 14-2 start. Arizona State shot 45 percent (27-of-60) and held a commanding 42-25 rebounding advantage. The Wildcats shot 47 percent (26-of-55) and committed 21 turnovers.
