CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia (Ticker) -- Schuye LaRue scored all of
Virginia's seven points in overtime as the 24th-ranked Cavaliers
rallied for a 76-71 triumph over Wake Forest in an Atlantic
Coast Conference thriller. LaRue made a short jumper and a layup, then put Virginia (14-8, 5-4 ACC) ahead for good, 75-73, by making two free throws with 25 seconds left in the extra period. She split two free throws with 3.6 seconds remaining to cap the scoring. Marcie Dickson scored 21 points on 10-of-14 shooting for the Cavaliers and converted a three-point play with eight seconds left to force overtime. LaRue finished with 16 points off the bench for Virginia, which snapped a three-game conference losing streak. The Cavaliers extended their lead in the all-time series to 49-1. Kristen Shaffer had 21 points and six rebounds and Eafton Hill added 15 and 10 for the Demon Deacons (11-9, 3-6), who suffered their seventh straight road loss. Wake Forest has not defeated Virginia since Jauary 13, 1978.
