Virginia Virginia/North Carolina State N.C. State Women's College Basketball recap on ESPN

RALEIGH, N.C. (Ticker) -- Ivy Gardner scored 16 points on 6-for-9 shooting as North Carolina State (No. 24 ESPN/USA Today) cruised to a 71-56 victory over Virginia (No. 25 ESPN/USA Today) in an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup.

Carisse Moody added 13 points and 13 rebounds and Tynesha Lewis added 11 points and four steals for the Wolfpack. Nanna Rivers chipped in 11 off the bench for NC State (13-8, 4-6 ACC), which was 1-for-3 from downtown but 24-for-31 from the line.

The Wolfpack scored the first nine points of the game and never trailed. They built their biggest lead, 39-21, at halftime and were not threatened until Virginia used a 10-0 run to close within 54-50 with 5:07 to go. The Cavaliers would get no closer however, scoring just five points the rest of the way.

Schuye LaRue led Virginia (14-9, 5-5) with 16 points and 16 rebounds but committed 12 of the team's 28 turnovers.

Telisha Quarles also had 16 points and Sventlana Volnaya collected 11 for the Cavaliers, who totaled just five assists.
