"When we lost to Notre Dame we were really disappointed," Shea
Ralph said. "But when Rutgers beat Notre Dame we felt we were
given a second chance and we wanted to come out and do something
special."
Ralph and Asjha Jones each added 11 points for Connecticut
(25-2, 15-1), while Tamika Williams had 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Connecticut shared the regular-season title with No. 2 Notre
Dame.
The Huskies won their last eight games without leading scorer
Svetlana Abrosimova, who tore a ligament in her foot Feb. 7.
"Without Svet everyone has had to take a little more
responsibility," Bird said.
Arminda Moreno led Seton Hall (16-11, 9-7) with 15 points.
The Huskies used their superior speed and swarming defense to
disrupt the Pirates early. Connecticut forced Seton Hall into 16
turnovers in the first half while opening a 44-18 lead.
"I don't think people realize just how good they are," Seton
Hall coach Phyllis Mangina said.
The Huskies shot 52 percent for the game, outrebounded Seton
Hall 41-24 and forced the Pirates into 25 turnovers.
