| SHREVEPORT, La. -- Senior center Shaka Massey of fourth-ranked Louisiana Tech on Wednesday underwent arthroscopic surgery on her right knee and is expected to miss up to a month.
Dr. Billy Bundrick removed three pieces of loose cartilage in the knee that he said were caused by an old injury.
"I was pleased with the results," he said. "It is now just going to be a matter of rehabbing and getting back into playing condition."
Bundrick said he thinks Massey will be able to return for the Sun Belt Conference tournament, which begins March 8.
Massey, who has missed the last two games, is averaging 8.2 points and 4.5 rebounds in 17 games this season.
The Lady Techsters are atop the conference standings at 8-0 and are 17-2 overall, having only lost to top-ranked Connecticut and
by two points on the road to Mississippi State on November 22. |
