Colorado State gets best of BYU

LAS VEGAS -- Katie Borton hit two 3-pointers in the final two minutes, leading Colorado State to a 59-56 win over BYU on Saturday night to win the Mountain West Conference women's tournament.
Borton, tournament MVP Heather Haanen and Lisa Narkiewicz each had nine points for the Rams (24-6).
Lisa Osguthorpe led BYU (18-12) with 16 points and Caroline Beus had 13 points and 11 rebounds.
The Rams trailed 52-51 when Borton hit a 3-pointer with 1:51 left. BYU's Beus tied the score with a layup, but Borton hit another 3-pointer with 1:09 remaining.
Stacy Jensen followed her own missed shot with a layup to bring BYU within 57-56, but Ashley Augspurger made two free throws with
26.3 seconds left.
A final 3-point attempt by BYU's Jensen fell short.
Colorado State led 28-19 at the half thanks to a 16-4 run. Angie Gorton made two layups in the run.
The Rams trailed 15-9 when Narkiewicz hit a 3-pointer and Haanen added another to tie the game at 15 with 5:29 left in the half. Send this story to a friend | Most sent stories
