Denver coach Pam Tanner has been offered the head coaching position at Minnesota, according to the Star Tribune. An article in Wednesday's Tribune said that Tanner told fellow coaches at this week's Sun Belt Conference meetings that her attorney was reviewing a contract offer to become the Gophers' new coach. The position became vacant when national Coach of the Year Brenda Oldfield left to take the Maryland job on April 2, more than seven weeks ago. Tanner, 34, has compiled a record of 112-83 in seven seasons at Denver, an NCAA Division II program until the 1989-99 season. Tanner guided Denver to the NCAA Tournament in 2001. She was named Sun Belt coach of the year in 2000 and 2001. |
