Visness extends free-throw streak to 64

Associated Press

NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- Concordia-Moorhead guard Jamie Visness extended her consecutive free throw streak to 64 on Saturday, breaking the 12-year-old NCAA Division III record of 61.

The previous record was set by Valerie Kepner of Baldwin-Wallace during the 1988-89 season.

Visness, who went 4-for-4 from the line and finished with eight points in the Cobbers' 69-55 loss to Carleton, made her final 12 foul shots last season and is 52-for-52 from the line this season. The Hallock native, who played at Kittson Central High School, finished the game two free throws away from tying the NCAA Women's All-Division mark of 66 straight.

That record is held by Richmond's Ginny Doyle, who made her final six free throws of the 1990-91 season and then her first 60 of the next.

Concordia-Moorhead was scheduled to play at St. Mary's, Minn., on Sunday.
