Field set as tournament begins Thursday

Third-ranked Tennessee, the regular-season champion with a perfect 14-0 conference mark, holds the No. 1 seed and fourth-ranked LSU the second seed going into the Southeastern Conference women's tournament beginning Thursday at Alltel Arena in North Little Rock, Ark.

The top four seeds all received opening-round byes, with the others going to Georgia (No. 16 ESPN/USA Today, No. 14 AP) with the third seed and 11th-ranked Mississippi State with the fourth.

Thursday's opening game tips off at noon CT with Auburn taking on Kentucky, followed by a game between Arkansas (No. 19 ESPN/USA Today, No. 21 AP) and Alabama. The opening night session has South Carolina (No. 13 ESPN/USA Today, No. 16 AP) facing Mississippi and Vanderbilt (No. 17 ESPN/USA Today, No. 18 AP) meeting Florida.

In Friday's quarterfinals, Tennessee meets the Auburn-Kentucky winner at noon, LSU takes on the Arkansas-Alabama winner at 2:30, Mississippi State faces the South Carolina-Ole Miss winner at 6 and Georgia takes on the Vandy-Florida winner at 8:30.

The semifinals are set for Saturday night and the championship game for 3 p.m. on Sunday. The title game will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
