Editor's note: Ball State's Tamara Bowie, the Cardinals' career scoring leader, is sharing a diary with ESPN.com for the third consecutive season. Jan. 10, 2003
I really don't have anything that I would change about myself, but there are some things that I would like to improve upon. So I have more than one New Year's resolution. They are not just this year's resolutions. I like to think of them as life-long resolutions. They should not apply just because it is a new year, but because I need a little change in my life. It may sound corny, but these are my resolutions and I hope your resolutions are good for you. I am glad classes have started again. I hate when I am not on a schedule. My days are all mixed up and I don't sleep right. I guess you could say I have been trained to stay on a schedule. This semester will be a lot easier than the last one. I only have five classes with a total of 14 credit hours. My schedule is the best one ever. I only have one class on Thursdays and Fridays. Now that's love!!! Even though I am glad to be back at school, I do miss my family. I had so much fun with my mom and my brothers when I went home for break. People sometimes say I am crazy, and yes, I am quick to admit that sometimes (OK, a majority of the time) I can be a little crazy. However, I have finally figured out why I am the way I am. My family is crazy! When I went home, we took family pictures. Being the Bowies, we never agreed on what we were going to wear in the pictures. An hour before our sitting, my mom tells me to call my brother and tell him that we take pictures in an hour. Y'all, my brother lives an hour away and he was just getting up when I called. Needless to say, we were late. While we were waiting on my oldest brother to get to the house, the rest of us argued about what to wear. Finally, we picked out football jerseys to wear, because that was the only thing that everyone had that was alike. It wouldn't be so crazy if this was the first time we wore jerseys. The sad thing is that this was the second time we did this. How crazy is that??? But it's cool and we looked good. Yeah -- good thing we are all confident or conceited or whatever you want to call it. Well my time is up I have to go be a student-athlete. I'll Holla!
