NEW YORK -- New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi expects up-and-down right hander Javier Vazquez to start Thursday in Minnesota against the Twins.
Vazquez, who bruised his right index finger against the Mets on Friday, will have a bullpen session Tuesday. However, if the session does not go well, his availability Thursday could change.
"It is not TBA," said Girardi on Vazquez's status. "He is scheduled to make the start."
Vazquez has played catch and thrown a ball lightly with the finger injury.
"I expect to make it unless it really feels bad," Vazquez said.
He then added he thinks the chances are good he will make the start.
