NEW YORK -- The Brooklyn Nets will not bring European forward Bojan Bogdanovic over this season, general manager Billy King confirmed to ESPNNewYork.com in a text message Wednesday.
The Nets had agreed to terms with Bogdanovic on a three-year contract starting at $2.5 million on Friday night but were unable to complete a buyout with the 24-year-old's current professional team in Turkey, Fenerbahce Ulker.
The Nets will now have to look elsewhere to add shooting help on the wing. They still have their full taxpayer mini midlevel exception to spend.
The Nets, who acquired Bogdanovic in a 2011 draft-night trade, still retain his rights.
King told reporters in Orlando that he expects to make the signings of Andray Blatche and Shaun Livingston official soon.
Kings also said that he hoped to finalize the Nets' pending acquisition of Boston Celtics forwards Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, along with guard Jason Terry, by Friday.
"This offseason, we did talk to Boston and we were going after Paul, and then it was like, Let's see if we could get KG," King told NBA TV. "We're close to having a deal, and hopefully we can get the deal done Friday."
