Damien Brunner signs with Devils

The New Jersey Devils have signed Swiss forward Damien Brunner to a two-year contract worth $5 million, the player's agent tweeted Tuesday.

Brunner, who played for the Detroit Red Wings last season, was brought in on a professional tryout by Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello last week.

At the time, Lamoriello said he made "no promises" to Brunner about a contract, though it's clear now that the 27-year-old winger impressed him.

Brunner's signing gives the Devils an abundance of forwards in camp, but Lamoriello told reporters Tuesday that was a "good problem" for the team to have.
