Saints 28, Falcons 10
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Vinny Cerrato's analysis
Deuce McAllister ran 54 yards for a touchdown -- the first of his career -- in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring and seal the win for the Saints. The Saints' defense, which shut down the Falcons in the second half. Chris Chandler was sacked nine times and the unit held Maurice Smith to just seven yards. Until the Falcons develop a consistent running game, Chris Chandler will get hit hard every game. He knows he'll get hit because opponents know that if they take him out, they have a good chance to win.
UP NEXT: Saints (7-5) vs. Rams (10-2)   |    Falcons (6-6) at Colts (4-7)

Bills 25, Panthers 24
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Vinny Cerrato's analysis
In the second half. Leading 24-6, the Panthers collapsed and allowed the Bills to score 19 unanswered points in the barn-burner dubbed "The Futility Bowl." Alex Van Pelt, the latest starter in the seemingly neverending Bills QB saga. He threw for 277 yards and a touchdown to lead the Buffalo rally. The Panthers weren't making plays on third down and because they weren't making plays in the second half, they didn't score any points. It's as simple as that.
UP NEXT: Bills (2-10) vs. Patriots (8-5)   |    Panthers (1-12) -- BYE

Jaguars 14, Bengals 10
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Vinny Cerrato's analysis
Keenan McCardell caught an 11-yard pass from Mark Brunell early in the fourth quarter to cap Jacksonville's comeback win. Jags QB Mark Brunell, who endured eight sacks, a sore leg and a cut hand, and still led his team to victory. He passed for 242 yards and two touchdowns. Brunell is playing hurt and fighting through pain. He's such a great competitor. Without him, the Jaguars don't have a chance. He knows that and realizes he can't miss a game.
UP NEXT: Jaguars (4-8) at Browns (6-6)   |    Bengals (4-8) at Jets (7-5)

Cowboys 20, Giants 13
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Vinny Cerrato's analysis
Quincy Carter threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Jackie Harris early in the fourth quarter that gave Dallas the lead for good, 20-13. The Giants gave up a 13-3 lead. Carter, who is 2-0 since returning to the starting spot. He threw for a career-high 194 yards to spark the Cowboys' rally. Quincy is protecting the football better. Earlier this season, he was fumbling snaps and throwing interceptions. Now he's not losing games for Dallas and he's giving his teammates the chance to excel.
UP NEXT: Cowboys (4-8) at Seahawks (6-5)   |    Giants (5-7) vs. Cardinals (5-7)

Packers 17, Bears 7
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Vinny Cerrato's analysis
Ahman Green ran 12 yards for a touchdown late in the third quarter to give the Packers a 14-7 lead -- a lead they would not relinquish. The Green-Favre connection. Green ran for 125 yards and QB Brett Favre surpassed the 3,000-yards passing mark for the 10th straight season -- an NFL record. Chicago didn't get anything deep -- no big plays. But the Bears aren't consistent enough to go 10-to-12 plays every drive without making a mistake. And when the Bears get in the red zone, they can't convert TDs.
UP NEXT: Packers (9-3) at Titans (5-7)   |    Bears (9-3) vs. Bucs (7-5)

Rams 27, 49ers 14
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Vinny Cerrato's analysis
Aeneas Williams intercepted Jeff Garcia's pass on the first drive of the game, setting up the Ram's first score in the lop-sided game. The Rams offense always plays a role, but it was the St. Louis defense that was just as important. From Williams' first play to holding the Niners to 220 yards. The Rams did everything they needed to do in this game. The Rams' defense took it to the 49ers early. The Niners' offense never got in rhythm. Jeff Garcia looked hurried -- he didn't set his feet all day.
UP NEXT: Rams (10-2) at Saints (7-5)   |    Niners (9-3) vs. Dolphins (8-3)

Vikings 42, Titans 24
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Vinny Cerrato's analysis
In the third quarter. The Vikings got two touchdowns -- a 31-yard run by Michael Bennett and a 38-yard TD catch from Doug Chapman -- to pull away for good. Vikings QB Todd Bouman. Todd Bouman? Yes, believe it. The backup stepped in for the injured Daunte Culpepper and finished with 348 yards and four TD passes. Lots of teams run to set up the pass, but Minnesota's offense reverses that order. When the passing game is going well and Randy Moss is making plays, it opens things up for the run.
UP NEXT: Vikings (5-7) at Lions (0-12)   |    Titans (5-7) vs. Packers (9-3)

Patriots 27, Browns 16
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Vinny Cerrato's analysis
Troy Brown returned a punt 85 yards for a touchdown that gave the Patriots a 17-10 lead in the third quarter. New England took control from that point. Sure, the offense of Brown, Smith and Brady was there, but the New England defense held the Browns offense without a touchdown. Troy Brown is New England's go-to guy, the receiver that QB Tom Brady feels most comfortable with. Brown keeps climbing every week with his consistent performances.
UP NEXT: Patriots (8-5) at Bills (2-10)   |    Browns (6-6) vs. Jaguars (4-8)

Eagles 24, Chargers 14
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Vinny Cerrato's analysis
Brian Dawkins returned LaDainian Tomlinson's fumble 49 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter was one of four turnovers committed by the Chargers. Enough said. The Chargers let Doug Flutie down. Mistakes overshadowed the San Diego QB's performance -- he threw for 307 yards and two TDs vs. the league's top-ranked pass defense. The Chargers did get one lucky play that bounced around and turned into a long gain through the air. But the Eagles didn't get the pressure they needed on Doug Flutie, and their tackling was suspect.
UP NEXT: Eagles (8-4) at Redskins (6-6)   |    Chargers (5-8) vs. Raiders (9-3)

Buccaneers 15, Lions 12
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Vinny Cerrato's analysis
They gave him the ball and Keyshawn Johnson finally caught it. The wideout brought down a 13-yard touchdown pass with 45 seconds remaining to give the Bucs the victory. Keyshawn. He told us to put him here. Well, not really. But he caught 10 passes for 101 yards, and his game-clincher was his first TD of the season. I still don't think the Bucs are a playoff threat. They seem to struggle with everybody, and their big problem has been the offensive line, which is having a hard time protecting the quarterback and establishing the run.
UP NEXT: Buccaneers (7-5) at Bears (9-3)   |    Lions (0-12) vs. Vikings (5-7)

Redskins 20, Cardinals 10
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Vinny Cerrato's analysis
After a scoreless first quarter, the Redskins broke away before the half. LaVar Arrington's 43-yard interception return set up Brett Conway's 22-yard field goal that gave Washington a 10-3 lead. Brett Conway -- why not? Along with the 22-yarder, he converted another for 42 yards in the fourth plus two PATs. LaVar Arrington continues to be a play-maker -- that's what he was drafted for. His interception and big hits Sunday were huge. Arrington is without question the Redskins' emotional leader.
UP NEXT: Redskins (6-6) vs. Eagles (8-4)   |    Cardinals (5-7) at Giants (5-7)

Steelers 18, Jets 7
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Vinny Cerrato's analysis
In the second half. Despite not blowing the Jets away, the Steelers' defense did shut out New York in that time, and overall held Curtis Martin to just 58 yards. Steelers kicker Kris Brown, who didn't let two missed field goals and an extra point get in the way. He converted four FGs (26, 33, 38, 20), accounting for most of Pittsburgh's offense. The Jets just need to make some passing plays and score more points. They are so conservative -- they're much like the Bears in that regard. They need to get the ball to Laveranues Coles and Santana Moss.
UP NEXT: Steelers (10-2) at Ravens (8-4)   |    Jets (7-5) vs. Bengals (4-8)

Raiders 28, Chiefs
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Vinny Cerrato's analysis
Oakland's Regan Upshaw hit Trent Green to force a fumble with less than two minutes left in the game. It thwarted a possible game-winning drive for the Chiefs. Kansas City QB Priest Holmes, who put in another huge game only to see his team lose. He outgained Oakland's entire offense 277-264, and passed the 1,000-yard mark with his fifth 100-yard game. The Raiders have had to deal with lots of injuries on defense. Plus, their tackling hasn't been very good. They haven't been playing very well fundamentally. When your safeties aren't tackling well, you're sunk.
UP NEXT: Raiders (9-3) at Chargers (5-8)   |    Chiefs (3-9) vs. Broncos (6-6)

Broncos 20, Seahawks 7
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ...
In the third quarter, when Gus Frerotte threw a 1-yard TD pass to Patrick Hape and capped a 55-yard drive that gave Denver a 17-7 edge. Gus Frerotte, who stepped in after starting quarterback Brian Griese was knocked out early in the second half. Frerotte went 10-for-20 for 77 yards and drove Denver to two scores.
UP NEXT: Broncos (7-6) at Chiefs (3-9)   |    Seahawks (6-6) vs. Cowboys (4-8)

Dolphins 41, Colts 6
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ...
Jay Fiedler hit Oronde Gadsen with a 9-yard touchdown pass to give the Dolphins a 34-6 lead early in the fourth quarter. Fiedler, who threw three touchdown passes -- without an interception -- and ran for another.
UP NEXT: Dolphins (9-3) at 49ers (9-3)   |    Colts (4-8) vs. Falcons (6-6)
