Patriots 12, Bills 9
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Vinny Cerrato's analysis
Adam Vinatieri kicked a 23-yard field goal with 3:18 left in overtime. It was his fourth conversion of the game. Since the Patriots again struggled against the Bills, it has to be Vinatieri. He kicked New England into OT and also got the game-winner -- the 11th clincher of his career. The Patriots won without playing well, which shows good resolve. It could be that they were looking ahead to Miami. To win on the road when they didn't play their A-game bodes well for the Pats.
UP NEXT: Patriots (9-5) vs. Dolphins (9-4)   |    Bills (2-11) at Falcons (6-7)

Bears 27, Buccaneers 3
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Vinny Cerrato's analysis
By halftime. Paul Edinger kicked a 46-yard field goal late in the second quarter to give the Bears a 13-3 lead. But does it matter? Da Bears are in the postseason. Chicago's defense. The unit sufficated Brad Johnson all day, and forced four turnovers and allowed just 61 rushing yards. If the Bears want to go anywhere in the playoffs, they need to be aggressive on offense and throw the ball downfield like they did Sunday. If they're not aggressive, they could be one and done.
UP NEXT: Bears (10-3) vs. Redskins (6-7)   |    Buccaneers (7-6) vs. Saints (7-5)

Jaguars 15, Browns 10
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Vinny Cerrato's analysis
An instant-relpay decision took back a Browns' first down at the Jacksonville 9-yard line with 1:08 left in the game. Before all hell broke loose, Mark Brunell had an excellent game for the Jags. He went 20-for-35 for 202 yards and a touchdown. Fans are never justified acting like this -- there's never justification for throwing objects with the intent of injuring officials or players. If the officials made the call at the proper time, none of this would have happened.
UP NEXT: Jaguars (5-8) vs. Vikings (5-8)   |    Browns (6-7) at Packers (9-4)

Lions 27, Vikings 24
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Vinny Cerrato's analysis
The Vikings failed to convert on two opportunities inside Detroit territory in the final 10 minutes, giving the Lions their first win of the season. The Rookie. Quarterback Mike McMahon, who had 316 total yards. He was 15-of-28 for 241 yards and ran 11 times for 75 yards and a touchdown. Mike McMahon has scrambling and running ability and speed, but he needs to show improvement each week. If he can be a legit No. 1 quarterback, it would be great for the Lions.
UP NEXT: Lions (1-12) at Steelers (10-2)   |    Vikings (5-8) vs. Jaguars (5-8)

Colts 41, Falcons 27
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Vinny Cerrato's analysis
In the first half. The Colts built up a big enough lead behind four touchdowns, giving Indianapolis its first home win since Sept. 23. Has to be Dominic Rhodes. The already-depleted Colts got a huge performance from the running back, who rushed for 177 yards and scored two touchdowns. Dominic Rhodes will be backing up Edgerrin James. But he's proven what he can do and the type of runner he can be. Rhodes has made himself money for the future based on what he's doing now.
UP NEXT: Colts (5-8) vs. Jets (8-5)   |    Falcons (6-7) vs. Bills (2-11)

Chiefs 26, Broncos 23 OT
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Vinny Cerrato's analysis
Todd Peterson kicked a 32-yard field goal with 5:56 left in overtime, his fourth conversion of the day. Priest Holmes had another huge game -- 121 yards on 29 carries -- but let's give a nod to Peterson. He rebounded from striking out twice late in regulation to kick the game-winner. Priest Holmes has finally gotten a chance to play. He fits in well with what the Chiefs want to do. He runs the ball well and catches the ball well. And Kansas City is taking advantage of his skills.
UP NEXT: Chiefs (4-9) vs. Chargers (5-9)   |    Broncos (7-7) -- BYE

Jets 15, Bengals 14
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Vinny Cerrato's analysis
Late interceptions by Damien Robinson and James Farrior gave the Jets the chance to score their winning TD -- a 2-yard pass to Anthony Becht late in the fourth quarter. Their play was spotty, but the Jets got some big plays from some unlikely sources. Tight ends James Dearth and Becht caught fourth-quarter TD passes to lead N.Y. to the win. The Jets had some success throwing the ball, but they still need to open things up. New York needs to be more aggressive on offense and can't be conservative. The Jets must take the game to the defense.
UP NEXT: Jets (8-5) at Colts (5-8)   |    Bengals (4-9) at Ravens (8-4)

49ers 21, Dolphins 0
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Vinny Cerrato's analysis
On the Dolphins' first possession of the game. Jay Fiedler threw his first of three interceptions and the Niners capitalized, converting the turnover and setting the tone. The Niners defense, which was overwhelming from the get-go. The unit didn't allow the Dolphins to cross the Niners 40 until the fourth, and posted their second straight shutout. Miami went up against a team that was embarrassed the week before, and the 49ers were ready. The Niners were looking to make amends for the Rams loss. They dominated on defense and offense.
UP NEXT: Niners (10-3) vs. Eagles (9-4)   |    Dolphins (9-4) at Patriots (9-5)

Seahawks 29, Cowboys 3
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Vinny Cerrato's analysis
In the fourth quarter, when the Seahawks scored 17 points to break open what was a 12-3 game. Ricky Watters, who returned after a eight-game absence only to get hurt again. But he made his mark before that, rushing for 104 yards and a first-quarter TD. The Seahawks' offense struggles too much. They don't get enough out of Hasselbeck and depend too much on the run. It seems they ask Hasselbeck to not lose games rather than to try to make winning plays.
UP NEXT: Seahawks (7-6) at Giants (6-7)   |    Cowboys (4-9) at Cardinals (5-8)

Eagles 20, Redskins 6
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Vinny Cerrato's analysis
The Redskins weren't in this one. Besides the fact that they couldn't convert inside the Eagles' zone eight times, they dropped passes, two missed field goals and two interceptions. Donovan McNabb. Yes, the Eagles QB threw a career-high three INTs, but he rebounded to finish 16 of 34 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns./font> The Redskins' major focus in the offseason should be quarterback. They have a strong running game and the defense has made good progress, but the 'Skins need a QB who can win some games for them.
UP NEXT: Eagles (9-4) at Niners (10-3)   |    Redskins (6-7) vs. Bears (10-3)

Titans 26, Packers 20
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Vinny Cerrato's analysis
Over the second and third quarters, where the Packers managed just 41 offensive yards and squandered a 10-2 advantage. Titans QB Steve McNair, who threw 283 yards and two touchdowns despite getting sacked four times in the first half. The Packers saw what the Vikings' offense did to the Titans' secondary last week. So they came in with visions of padding their stats. It didn't look like the Packers expected the Titans to play tough.
UP NEXT: Titans (6-7) at Raiders (10-3)   |    Packers (9-4) vs. Browns (6-7)

Steelers 26, Ravens 21
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ...
Kordell Stewart made a 25-yard touchdown pass to Plaxico Burress late in the first half to give the Steelers a 13-7 lead, an edge they would not relinquish. Stewart, who threw for a career-best 333 yards and two touchdowns.
UP NEXT: Steelers (11-2) vs. Lions (1-12)   |    Ravens (8-5) vs. Bengals (4-9)

Saturday's games

Giants 17, Cardinals 13
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ...
Giants quarterback Kerry Collins threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Amani Toomer with 25 seconds left in the game. The Giants did something they haven't done a whole lot this season -- not blow the game in the fourth quarter. New York completed an 11-play, 70-yard drive to avoid a fifth fourth-quarter collapse this season.
UP NEXT: Giants (6-7) vs. Seahawks (7-6)   |    Cardinals (5-8) vs. Cowboys (4-9)

Raiders 13, Chargers 6
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ...
At the Raiders 2-yard line, Doug Flutie's pass was underthrown and went right to William Thomas at the 3 for his second pickoff of the game. It negated a possible winning drive for the Chargers. The Raiders' defense, which held the Chargers to six points and picked off Flutie three times, including Thomas' key interception late in the game.
UP NEXT: Raiders (10-3) vs. Titans (6-7)   |    Chargers (5-9) at Chiefs (4-9)
