Week 3 wrap-ups

ESPN.com

Bucs 26, Rams 14
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ...
Linebacker Derrick Brooks intercepted Kurt Warner and returned it 39 yards for a touchdown in the closing seconds. Ronde Barber and Simeon Rice might share this one. Barber had 10 solo tackles and 11 overall, while Rice had a sack, a forced fumble and an interception.
UP NEXT: Rams (0-3) vs. Cowboys (1-2)   |    Bucs (2-1) at Bengals (0-3)

Dolphins 30, Jets 3
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
Miami went up 10-0. The Jets have been atrocious on offense and Sunday was no different. The Jets weren't going to score 10 points against Miami. The defense was great, but how about Ricky Williams? First Dolphins RB to have three straight 100-yard rushing games. With the addition of Ricky Williams, this is a new year for Miami. The Dolphins have a lot of weapons and they were very positive going into this week.
UP NEXT: Dolphins (3-0) at Chiefs (1-2)   |    Jets (1-2) at Jaguars (1-1)

Browns 31, Titans 28
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
When Tim Couch's 31-yard pass to Andre' Davis down the right sideline was ruled a catch. That put the Browns in field goal range and Phil Dawson ended it three plays later. Couch, who quieted all the critics who were wondering whether Kelly Holcomb should be the Browns' starting QB. Couch had over 300 yards passing and three TDs. One game doesn't make a player great, but I was surprised how well QB Tim Couch played. There is no QB controversy in Cleveland.
UP NEXT: Browns (2-1) at Steelers (0-2)   |    Titans (1-2) at Raiders (2-0)

Dolphins 30, Jets 3

Panthers 21, Vikings 14
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
Deon Grant intercepted a last-second heave by Daunte Culpepper. It was Grant's third interception. Lamar Smith was great, but we'll give it to the defense. Four interceptions and five sacks. All of the pressure falls on Daunte Culpepper and Randy Moss -- and they're not handling that pressure too well right now.
UP NEXT: Panthers (3-0) at Packers (2-1)   |    Vikings (0-3) at Seahawks (0-3)

Patriots 41, Chiefs 38
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
Adam Vinatieri's 35-yard field goal passed through the uprights in OT, and not a second sooner. These teams might still be playing if OT wasn't sudden death. We generally like to go with one guy, but Troy Brown (16 rec., 176 yds., 1 TD) and Tom Brady (410 yds., 4 TDs) have to share it this week. The Chiefs played smash-mouth football. They didn't run away from the Pats or stretch out the field. They ran vertical, which negates all of the Patriots blitzing schemes.
UP NEXT: Patriots (3-0) at Chargers (3-0)   |    Chiefs (1-2) vs. Dolphins (3-0)

Saints 29, Bears 23
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
Sammy Knight, one of the NFL's best playmakers, intercepted a pass by Jim Miller at the goal line with seconds left. Aaron Brooks, who stepped up and won this game for New Orleans. New Orleans is the No. 1 team in the NFC right now. Not based on preseason, but during the season, when games won and lost is what counts.
UP NEXT: Saints (3-0) at Lions (0-3)   |    Bears (2-1) at Bills (1-2)

Eagles 44, Cowboys 13
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
Donovan McNabb scored on a 2-yard run to put the Eagles up 17-10. Once the Eagles got the lead, they never lookied back. McNabb, who passed for 287 yards and three TDs and also scored a TD rushing. The Eagles are still missing that No. 1 type of receiver. They've got a couple of No. 2's and maybe one No. 3, but they're still missing that star. When they get him, the sky is the limit for the Eagles.
UP NEXT:Eagles (2-1) vs. Texans (1-2)   |    Cowboys (1-2) at Rams (0-2)

Colts 23, Texans 3
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
The Colts took a 13-0 lead in the second quarter. The young Texans simply don't have the guns yet to come from behind against a good team. Peyton Manning, who played an efficient, mistake-free game for the Colts, throwing for two scores and 272 yards. The Texans will score. They're going to be OK, but it will take a while.
UP NEXT: Colts (2-1) BYE   |    Texans (1-2) at Eagles (2-1)

Chargers 23, Cardinals 15
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
The Cardinals lost the ball on downs in the final two minutes. The Chargers' defense. The unit is the biggest reason San Diego is 3-0. GM John Butler and coach Marty Schottenheimer have done a fantastic job molding the Chargers into their team.
UP NEXT: Chargers (3-0) vs. Patriots (3-0)   |    Cardinals (1-2) vs. Giants (2-1)

Broncos 28, Bills 23
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
The Broncos recovered an onside kick in the final two minutes. Brian Griese. After almost getting pulled the two weeks ago, Griese was on his game. He threw for 211 yards and a pair of scores against the Bills. The Broncos are in the upper-echelon of the NFL and have the balance to challenge for the Super Bowl.
UP NEXT: Bills (1-2) vs. Bears (2-1)   |    Broncos (3-0) at Ravens (0-2)

Packers 37, Lions 31
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
Joey Harrington threw an interception deep in Packers' territory in the final minute. Brett Favre, who was his usual clutch self. Favre threw for 357 yards and three touchdowns. The first thing a young player needs to do is get the respect of his team, and Harrington did that today.
UP NEXT: Packers (2-1) vs. Panthers (3-0)   |    Lions (0-3) vs. Saints (3-0)

49ers 20, Redskins 10
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
The 49ers took a 10-point lead in the third quarter against a struggling Redskins offense. Terrell Owens, who had a highlight-reel 38-yard touchdown run. The 49ers had a great rushing day. That should help ease some of the defensive pressure that teams focus on Owens.
UP NEXT: Redskins (1-2) BYE   |    49ers (2-1) BYE

Giants 9, Seahawks 6
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
For the second straight week, William Peterson of the Giants sealed a victory with an interception late in the fourth quarter. Kerry Collins bailed out the Giants even though he just missed getting a record-tying sixth consecutive 300-yard passing game. Collins finished with 282 yards. The Seahawks probably played as well as they're going to play defensively in this game.
UP NEXT: Seahawks (0-3) vs. Vikings (0-3)   |    Giants (2-1) at Cardinals (1-2)

Falcons 30, Bengals 3
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ...
As soon as the Falcons got on the board. Those seven points were more than enough against a Bengals team that couldn't do anything on offense. Michael Vick passed for 174 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 56 yards.
UP NEXT: Falcons (1-2) -- bye week   |    Bengals (0-3) vs. Bucs (1-1)
