Here's the latest news on key injuries going into Week 11:

John Clayton's injury updates
Team Comment
The Cardinals will be without defensive end Tom Burke because of a neck injury, so they will start inexperienced Mario Fatafehi, a defensive tackle who has only been practicing at end for a little more than a week. Fred Wakefield hurt a calf muscle this week in practice but coach Dave McGinnis says that Wakefield will play. He rested during Friday's practice. Wide receiver Frank Sanders missed practice again Friday, but he says that he will be able to play despite his hamstring injury. His word is usually good involving injuries because he hasn't missed a game in seven seasons. Strong safety Justin Lucas (ankle), middle linebacker Johnny Rutledge (neck), wide receiver Rob Moore (hamstring) and punter Scott Player (ankle) aren't expected to play against the Chargers.
Wearing a brace on his strained left elbow, Falcons defensive tackle Travis Hall practiced for the second consecutive day Friday and will play Sunday's game against the Panthers. Tight end Reggie Kelly, who missed Sunday's victory over the Packers with a knee injury, will also be able to return. The only change in the starting lineup will be Johndale Carty starting for the injured Gerald McBurrows at strong safety. McBurrows has stretched ligaments in a knee that will keep him out one or two weeks. Carty becomes the third different strong safety for the Falcons.
The Ravens will have to find a way to get a pass rush against the Jaguars without their two best defensive ends. Michael McCrary will go on the injured reserve list next week and Rob Burnett, who has missed practice all week with a calf injury, is expected to miss Sunday's game. Adalius Thomas and probably Larry Webster will get the start against the Jaguars. Kelly Gregg will get into the end rotation along with defensive tackle Sam Adams. Peter Boulware will be even more important as a defensive end in pass-rushing situations along with his regular duties at outside linebacker. Middle linebacker Ray Lewis sat out practice against Friday resting a thigh injury, but coach Brian Billick said that Lewis will play. Cornerback Duane Starks, listed as questionable because of a groin injury, did some limited work on Friday and should be able to start. Billick will have to wait until game time to see whether backup cornerback James Trapp can play on his groin injury.
The Bills placed halfback Travis Henry on the injury list as probable because of the back spasms that started bothering him during Thursday's practice. Coach Gregg Williams held Henry out of Friday's practice, but both Williams and Henry say that the halfback will start against the Dolphins. Tackle Jonas Jennings won't be able to play because of a foot injury, so John Fina takes back his starting left tackle job despite playing on a bad knee. Fina draws the assignment of blocking Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor. Williams said that Raion Hill returns as the starting strong safety after missing a game with a neck injury. Defensive end Phil Hansen practiced and may be able to play.
The Panthers will be without wide receiver Muhsin Muhammad Sunday against the Falcons. He has two bad shoulders, the right being the worst one. This injury isn't expected to be long term, though. Muhammad should only miss one game. Filling in for him will be Isaac Byrd. Donald Hayes starts on the other side. Tackle Chris Terry, who missed one game because of a sore Achilles tendon, will return to the starting lineup. He practiced Friday.
The hamstring injury that has sidelined Bears halfback Anthony Thomas all week was bad enough for the Bears to downgrade him from questionable to doubtful. James Allen is expected to return to the starting lineup. Thomas is the NFC's fifth-leading rusher with 638 yards on 150 carries. Coach Dick Jauron didn't officially rule out Thomas, but that appears to be a certainty because of his lost time in practice this week. The injury happened last week and hasn't gotten any better. Allen entered the season as the starter but Thomas eventually took the job. In some ways, the loss of Thomas will be minimized because Allen has done well against the Vikings. He's averaged four yards a carry against them in the past three games and is better on artificial turf than on regular grass. The game is in the Metrodome. Looks as though defensive tackle Robert Newkirk will be back after missing one game because of arthroscopic knee surgery. He was upgraded from doubtful to questionable Friday. His return is important because he comes off the bench to add some inside pass-rush on third downs.
Bengals wide receiver Darnay Scott didn't practice Friday and may not be able to play Sunday against the Browns. If he can't go, coach Dick LeBeau has to choose between Ron Dugans and Chad Johnson, who is coming off a broken clavicle. Johnson is ready to return to the lineup. Halfback Corey Dillon rested a sore knee one day this week but he will start against the Browns. Scott Rehberg starts at guard for Matt O'Dwyer, who is missing his second game because of a knee injury.
James Jackson -- not Benjamin Gay -- will start at halfback for the Browns Sunday against the Bengals. Jackson has an ankle injury but he practiced Thursday and Friday and will be able to play. Wali Rainer will return to the starting lineup at middle linebacker after missing two games with an ankle injury. Cornerback Daylon McCutcheon will play despite an ankle injury.
After placing Jerome Pathon on the injured reserve list this week, the Colts don't expect to have his rookie replacement, Reggie Wayne, who remains questionable with a knee injury. Coach Jim Mora has been pessimistic all week about Wayne's chances of playing. Terrence Wilkins or Tony Simmons would start for Wayne. Defensive end Chad Bratzke will play despite an ankle injury that has been bothering him for more than three weeks. The Colts host the 49ers.
The Jaguars had good news and bad news Friday. Quarterback Mark Brunell handled more than 50 percent of the snaps, his second consecutive day of work. Brunell missed last Sunday's game against the Steelers because of a quad injury. The bad news involves linebackers Kevin Hardy and Joe Tuipala. They were added to the injury list Friday as questionable. Hardy hurt his knee during Thursday's practice and coach Tom Coughlin said he won't know until Sunday morning whether he could play against the Ravens Sunday. Tuipala suffered a deep thigh bruise. Halfback Fred Taylor did limited work, but he's supposed to be out another month because of his groin injury. The Jaguars aren't expected to use the roster spot this week they created when they waived injured tight end Damon Jones. Next Monday, R.J. Soward comes off the substance abuse suspension list and it appears that the Jaguars may activate him. The Jaguars will have a one-week roster exemption that will start next Monday for Soward.
The Dolphins don't have defensive tackle Daryl Gardener (back), strong safety Brian Walker (thumb) and cornerback Sam Madison (shoulder) for Sunday's game in what is expected to be a windy, chilly Buffalo. Coach Dave Wannstedt is expected to start Ernest Grant at Gardener's defensive tackle spot even though he has a shoulder injury that has him listed as questionable. Jermaine Haley returns after two missed games to help out at defensive tackle even though he has to wear a big cast on his broken thumb. Fullback Rob Konrad may able to play despite a shoulder injury.
The knee injury suffered by Vikings middle linebacker Kailee Wong won't prevent him from playing Sunday's game against the Bears. Fullback Jim Kleinsasser's ankle is still bothering him, but he will play. So will tight end Byron Chamberlain, who has had his knee lock up a couple of times this week. Scratch offensive linemen Brad Badger (toe) and guard Corbin Lacina (calf) and defensive linemen Willie Howard (knee) and Winfield Garnett (knee and ankle).
The Patriots expect to be without middle linebacker Bryan Cox (broken leg), wide receiver Terry Glenn (hamstring) and middle linebacker Ted Johnson (knee). Glenn and Johnson didn't practice Friday as the team returned after a day off in preparation for Sunday's game against the Saints. Glenn has only be active for one game this season. Left tackle Matt Light practiced Friday and may be able to return to the starting lineup. Tom Brady will be the starting quarterback for the remainder of the season even though Drew Bledsoe is healthy enough to be the backup. That decision was told to both players earlier this week.
Because he hasn't practiced all week, the Saints are expected to downgrade left tackle Willie Roaf from questionable to doubtful in the next day. Roaf is on the verge of missing his third game of the season because of the knee injury that continues to bother him. Daryl Terrell has filled in for him all week. The Saints have signed safety Steve Gleason off of their practice squad and cut tackle Mitch White, whom they hope to re-sign to their practice squad if he clears waivers. Free safety Richard Newsome is out with a foot injury as is tight end Cam Cleeland, who has an ankle sprain.
The Giants may not have defensive tackle Keith Hamilton because of a partially torn pectoral muscle that has kept him out of practice this week. Lance Legree would start if Hamilton can't go, but coach Jim Fassel won't know until game time. The Giants host the Raiders. Cornerback Will Allen has gotten over his eye problem that had him listed as questionable. Cornerback Jason Sehorn may have been limited in some of the practices this week because of knee swelling, but he will start against the Raiders.
The Raiders will take a starting lineup to Giants Stadium that is complete, but the question remains durability. Barry Sims is expected to try to play left tackle after practicing all on a foot that is probably going to need another operation after the season. Sims sat out last Sunday's game against the Chargers. Sims' replacement, Matt Stinchcomb, was beaten for three sacks during his one-game absence. Mo Collins will return to the starting lineup against at right guard but he may need some help from Frank Middleton, who has filled in for him the past month. Halfback Tyrone Wheatley will also be back. He's missed a month with a knee injury. The big story is cornerback Charles Woodson, who has a turf toe that will prevent him from practicing the remainder of the season. Woodson took a pain-killing, non-cortisone shot last week and was able to survive the Chargers game, but he was in a lot of pain early in the week. Woodson will have to see how long he can last without this shot this week.
Eagles defensive end Brandon Whiting couldn't finish Friday's practice because of a hamstring injury and probably won't be able to play against the Redskins. Coach Andy Reid said that Whiting's status is day-to-day but Friday wasn't a great day. The other question mark is fullback Cecil Martin, who also has a hamstring injury, but Reid expects him to be able to play. The rest of the roster is healthy enough to play.
The Steelers downgraded backup cornerback Jason Simmons, who has been out with a hamstring injury. He went from questionable to doubtful. Right guard Rich Tylski will probably be replaced by Oliver Ross, who has been working Tylski's spot along with Roger Duffy. Halfback Amos Zereoue was upgraded from questionable to probable with a shoulder injury.
The Rams entered the week knowing they wouldn't have defensive linemen Leonard Little and Damoine Lewis, but they are getting the feeling that strong safety Adam Archeleta also won't be able to go on the ankle injury he suffered during Sunday's victory over the Patriots. Rich Coady takes over for him. Linebacker Mark Fields practiced Friday and coach Mike Martz said that he will able to play against the Bucs on Monday night. Wide receiver Az Hakim missed practiced Friday, but Martz said Saturday that he looked improved and expects him to play.
Chargers strong safety Rodney Harrison did a little running on the side, which gives coach Mike Riley remote hope that he could be available for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Don't count on it. He's listed as doubtful. Cornerback Alex Molden (ankle) and wide receiver Tim Dwight (collapsed lung) are out. Tight end Freddie Jones didn’t practice on his bad ankle and there is a remote chance he could play. Halfback Terrell Fletcher missed practice Thursday and Friday but Riley expects him to play. Defensive end Marcellus Wiley rested his groin injury Friday but will play against the Chargers.
The 49ers took defensive end Andre Carter out of his protective boot and let him run around on his bad ankle, but coach Steve Mariucci said he won't know until game day whether Carter will play. It doesn't look good. Carter will come out of the boot again Saturday for a test but Mariucci has already said that Chike Okeafor will start. The other big news involved wide receiver Terrell Owens, who is bothered by a sore ankle and a sore knee. Owens rested during Friday's practice because he worked hard on Thursday. Mariucci is convinced that Owens will be ready for the Sunday game in Indianapolis.
The only Buccaneer player who will miss Monday's game against Rams is wide receiver Karl Williams, who is out with a hip injury. The timing is good, though, because Jacquez Green returns after missing four games with a groin injury. Middle linebacker Jamie Duncan will be able to play despite a knee injury against the Rams.
The Titans don't expect to have strong safety Blaine Bishop (foot), wide receiver Chris Sanders (back) and left tackle Brad Hopkins (broken left hand) for Sunday's game against the Steelers. Hopkins will be replaced by Jason Mathews because doctors had to surgically insert a steel plate instead of a pin in his broken left hand. Hopkins is week-to-week, but it would be too much for a left tackle to try to play with a broken left hand that was just fixed earlier this week. The Titans probably won't have wide receiver Justin McCareins, who has been out with an ankle injury. Tight ends Erron Kinney, Frank Wycheck and Shad Meier practiced and should be available. Quarterback Steve McNair also practiced Friday and will be able to play despite his bad thumb.
The Redskins are on a four-game winning streak, and coach Marty Schottenheimer goes into Sunday's game against the Eagles with perhaps his healthiest roster of the season. The only player who will miss the game is guard Matthew Campbell, who has a dislocated knee. Tony Banks has no more concussion problems and will start at quarterback. Stephen Alexander returns after missing around two months with a high ankle sprain. Michael Bates will return kickoffs despite a hip injury.
