The Tennessee Titans have found their backup to running back Eddie George.

The Titans reached agreement with former Buffalo Bills running back Jonathan Linton on Friday for a one-year deal at the NFL minimum. If he hits certain incentives, Linton can reach $625,000 for the season.

Linton was a part-time starter in his three seasons in Buffalo. He played in 15 games last season, starting two and rushing for 112 yards on 38 carries.

A fifth-round pick out of North Carolina in 1998, Linton led the Bills in rushing in 1999 while filling in for an injured Thurman Thomas. He ran for 695 yards and five touchdowns despite starting only two games.

Second-year pro Mike Green, who led NFL Europe in rushing this past spring, was a candidate to back up George but had no carries in 2000.
