Brunell reportedly heads Redskins' considerations

ESPN.com news services

The Washington Post reported Saturday the Redskins will consider trying to acquire QB Mark Brunell from the Jaguars this offseason.

The report, citing an unnamed source close to the quarterback, said Brunell is unhappy the Jaguars exposed offensive tackle Tony Boselli to the expansion draft.

The Post source also said Brunell would not mind a trade, and there is a good chance he will be elsewhere next season.

The Redskins reportedly will also consider Patriots QB Drew Bledsoe, who lost his starting job to Tom Brady after suffering an injury in Week 2.

Brunell, 31, has three seasons remaining on his contract with Jacksonville, but the Jaguars might part with him to help alleviate their salary cap problems. The Jaguars would save about $2 million on next season's salary cap by trading or releasing Brunell.
