Wrist not an issue for Leaf, coach Holmgren

Associated Press

KIRKLAND, Wash. -- The Seahawks opened their third and final mini-camp Monday at their Kirkland headquarters with Ryan Leaf competing for the third-string quarterback job.

Coach Mike Holmgren says he looked fine and threw some "bazooka balls."

Leaf worked out with starter Trent Dilfer and backup Matt Hasselbeck.

Holmgren says Leaf's injured wrist didn't bother him and Leaf said it's fine.

The Rose Bowl quarterback for the Washington State Cougars four years ago and a Number Two draft pick, Leaf signed with Seattle last month.

The workout camp will run through June 12. The real Seahawks training camp starts July 26 at Eastern Washington University in Cheney.

Shaun Alexander is not in camp. He's on his honeymoon.
