There's no deal yet, but at least the bargaining lines are back open. First-round draft pick Bryant McKinnie and his agents have resumed talks with the Minnesota Vikings. No deal is imminent as McKinnie's agents rejected the Vikings' restructured contract offer. Despite this, the dialogue between the two sides is expected to continue. Sources close to the situation told The St. Paul Pioneer Press that the changes involved were structural and that the Vikings were making a compromise. According to the report, the offer remains a five-year deal, which includes a $8.1 million signing bonus. Coach Mike Tice still has hope McKinnie will end his 41-day holdout and report to the team by Sunday. Vikings owner Red McCombs also said he hopes McKinnie will sign quickly and report. "These things always have a way of working out,'' McCombs told the Press. "It has been a while, but it has been slow, but I do think we'll get him in soon and he'll be helping. He needs to be in here.'' |
