NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee running back Eddie George went to an emergency room with pain in his left foot a few hours after Sunday's loss to Dallas.
He was put in a walking boot and and scheduled for more tests Monday afternoon. Coach Jeff Fisher said George called team doctors Sunday night and met them at the hospital around midnight because the pain in his left arch would not ease. "He says he's had it before but not this bad,'' Fisher said. "He had attributed it to taping. He gets taped so tight. ... He says he'll practice Wednesday. We'll have to see. We want to be sure it's nothing working as far as a foot sprain or anything.'' George had a tendon connected to his right big toe repaired surgically in February 2001, and he has never missed a game, a streak that reached 98 in Sunday's 21-13 loss to Dallas. George carried 19 times for 65 yards in that game but had only five carries for 15 yards in the second half. "I don't believe this is as bad as it appears today. I believe he's a quick healer,'' Fisher said. Quarterback Steve McNair, who crashed into an equipment trunk and bench on the sideline in the second quarter, had soreness in his head, neck and right shoulder on Monday. Fisher said McNair's low back also stiffened up. |
