Lynn fifth Denver assistant to leave in month

Associated Press

DENVER -- Special-teams assistant coach Anthony Lynn has become the fifth Denver Broncos assistant to leave in the past month.

Lynn has taken a job as running backs coach with former Broncos quarterback Bill Musgrave, the new offensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Lynn, who was a running back for Denver, said Thursday the opportunity with Jaguars was too good to pass up.

Regarding the recent exodus of Denver coaches, Lynn said people in the NFL respect Broncos coach Mike Shanahan and try to hire his assistants.

"It's just a coincidence that we all left this year,'' said Lynn, a Broncos assistant for three years.

Shanahan lost only four of his assistant coaches to other jobs in his first seven seasons.

Other coaches who have left are defensive coordinator Ray Rhodes, wide receivers coach Karl Dorrell, nickel backs coach Ron Milus and George Dyer, assistant to the head coach.
