PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Steelers punter Josh Miller will miss the start of training camp after having arthroscopic knee surgery. Miller damaged knee cartilage during an offseason workout, but coach Bill Cowher said Monday that he would likely miss only a week or two of camp. The Steelers report to camp Friday at St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa. "He has progressed very well and he should be back kicking before we get out of camp," Cowher said. Miller has averaged 42.7 yards on 488 punts during seven Steelers seasons, including a 41.2 average last season that was his lowest since his rookie year in 1996. Miller missed the Steelers' final two regular-season games and two playoff games last season after having shoulder surgery on Dec. 19. His replacement, Tom Rouen, averaged 33.6 yards on 12 postseason punts and is no longer with the team. |
