Rams rookie Incognito placed on IR

ST. LOUIS -- Rookie offensive lineman Richie Incognito was
placed on the reserve/non-football injury list by the St. Louis Rams because his
surgically repaired knee failed to respond as quickly as

Incognito, a third-round pick, participated in only one practice
after rehabbing from kneecap surgery. He said Wednesday that the
Rams placed him on IR last week.

"I'm a little disappointed but my leg isn't strong enough to be
ready, to hold that knee into place, and that's the most important
thing," Incognito said. "That's what's kind of holding me back
right now."

Incognito will work out with the team the rest of the season,
although he cannot practice. Coach Mike Martz said Incognito had
first-round talent when the team drafted him, and interim coach Joe
Vitt projected Incognito making an impact next season.

"I think he's a real star, I really do," Vitt said. "He's
working hard, he's staying in this building and we're going to stay
on him."
