Steelers WR Ward probable for season opener

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward, who has been bothered by a hamstring injury during the preseason, was upgraded on Tuesday to probable for the team's regular-season opener Thursday against Miami.

Ward, an eight-year veteran, has missed just one regular-season game in his career. He caught 69 passes for 975 yards and 11 touchdowns while leading the Steelers to a Super Bowl win last season. He caught 5 passes for 123 yards and a touchdown in the Super Bowl to earn MVP honors.

His best season was 2002 when he had 112 receptions for 1329 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Two players are listed as questionable: tight end Jerame Tuman (hamstring) and center Chukky Okobi (knee). Four others are listed as probable: rookie offensive tackle Willie Colon (hamstring), cornerback Chidi Iwuoma (concussion), safety Mike Logan (ankle) and right tackle Max Starks (knee).
