Lions release veteran offensive lineman Verba

The Detroit Lions released veteran offensive lineman Ross Verba on Wednesday.

Verba, a 10-year veteran, played in seven games for the Lions this past season after sitting out 2005 and was inactive for eight games with hamstring and groin injuries.

He played for the Green Bay Packers from 1997-2000 and for the Cleveland Browns from 2001-2004. He was drafted from Iowa by the Packers in the first round of the 1997 NFL draft.
