Tom Brady, who returns to the New England Patriots in their regular-season opener Monday, has confirmed that he and his wife, Brazilian model Gisele Bundchen, are expecting a child in December.
"I told her ... no Sundays," Brady told ESPN's Chris Berman in an interview scheduled to air Sunday on SportsCenter and on Monday NFL Countdown. It will also be available starting Monday on ESPNBoston.com.
Rumors of a Brady-Bundchen baby have circulated for months, but neither has officially confirmed the news. The pair was married in February in California, and followed that with another ceremony in Costa Rica in April.
Brady, who missed most of last season with a knee injury, will start for the Patriots on Monday against the Buffalo Bills (7 p.m. ET, ESPN). He has won three Super Bowl titles with the Patriots, who missed the playoffs for the first time in six years after he was injured last season -- despite going 11-5.
Brady, who has a son -- John Edward Thomas Moynahan, with ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan -- joked that he'll participate in Lamaze classes with Bundchen.
"Well, it couldn't be harder than this training camp, so I'll be prepared," Brady said. "The women are the ones who have to do the work, we just have to be there and support them, so it'll be nice to do that."
