SOURCE: FALCONS SET TO TRADE CB HOUSTON TO LIONS
Atlanta is on the verge of trading cornerback Chris Houston to Detroit for a 2010 sixth-round pick and a switch of draft positions in the fifth round, according to a league source.
The deal is expected to be completed Monday.
Detroit had been in the market for a cornerback and pursued Dunta Robinson, who signed with Atlanta. Once Atlanta landed Robinson, it was free to trade Houston.
Houston was the Falcons' 2007 second-round pick out of Arkansas. He started 37 games the past three seasons.

SOURCE: EX-DOLPHINS LB PORTER TO MEET WITH CARDS
In the week after Arizona lost linebacker Karlos Dansby to Miami, former Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter is scheduled to visit the Cardinals on Thursday, said a source close to the situation.
Porter starred in Pittsburgh when the Steelers assistant coaches included Ken Whisenhunt and Russ Grimm, now the head coach and assistant head coach in Arizona.
Porter could once again play linebacker with Clark Haggans, his former teammate at Colorado State and with the Steelers.
Porter has said he wants to play on the West Coast. However, Buffalo also has contacted Porter about the possibility of playing for the Bills, according to a league source. Buffalo's new defensive coordinator, George Edwards, coached Porter in Miami last season.

SOURCE: STEELERS' PARKER TO VISIT REDSKINS
For all the attention that some of this year's veteran free agent running backs have received in the past, they have generated little attention so far on this year's free agent market. But this could be about to change.
The Washington Redskins have arranged for Pittsburgh's free agent running back Willie Parker to visit Washington on Monday, according to a source close to the situation. Pittsburgh is not planning to re-sign Parker, a two-time Pro Bowl running back who played on two Super Bowl champion Steelers teams. The Redskins already have Clinton Portis, but apparently are looking for another veteran running back to complement him.
Parker is 29 years old.

EX-JETS RB JONES SCHEDULED TO BE IN KC ON MONDAY
Former Jets running back Thomas Jones is scheduled to be in Kansas City on Monday.
Jones was released by the Jets on Friday after rushing for 1,402 yards and 14 touchdowns on 331 carries in 2009.
He was drafted seventh by Arizona in 2000, then traded to Tampa Bay in 2002 and moved on to the Bears as a free agent in 2004. Jones is 28th on the career rushing list with 9,217 yards, 190 behind Earl Campbell.

RAIDERS RELEASE RB FARGAS AFTER FAILED PHYSICAL
ALAMEDA, Calif. -- The Oakland Raiders have released running back Justin Fargas after seven seasons with the team.
The team announced the move on Saturday, saying Fargas had failed a physical. Fargas was owed a $1.7 million bonus if he was still on the roster on Monday.
Fargas was second on the team in rushing last season with 491 yards on 129 carries while sharing the duties with Michael Bush and Darren McFadden. This move should give those young backs a bigger opportunity to play.
Fargas led the team in rushing the previous three seasons. His best year was in 2007 when he gained 1,009 yards on the ground.
Fargas has run for 3,369 yards in seven seasons. He has averaged 4.1 yards per carry and scored 10 touchdowns.

EX-PANTHERS DT KEMOEATU TO VISIT REDSKINS, SAINTS
Former Carolina Panthers defensive tackle Maake Kemoeatu is going to visit Washington on Tuesday, according to a league source.
The source said Kemoeatu is also scheduled to go to New Orleans the week of March 15.
The Panthers released Kemoeatu on Friday in the start of a youth movement.

RAMS SIGN FREE AGENT QB FEELEY
The St. Louis Rams have signed free agent A.J. Feeley as part of what could be a big shakeup at the quarterback position.
Terms of the deal announced Saturday were not disclosed, but media reports said Feeley got a two-year contract.
Feeley is 32 and was a backup for Carolina in 2009. In 10 seasons he has completed 372 of 665 passes for 4,070 yards, 27 touchdowns and 29 interceptions.
"A.J. has an understanding of our offensive system and will be a valuable addition for our team," Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo said.
The quarterback situation in St. Louis is unsettled. The Rams may not retain Marc Bulger and are said to be considering Oklahoma's Sam Bradford and Notre Dame's Jimmy Clausen with the No. 1 overall pick in the April draft.
The Rams also re-signed safety Craig Dahl, who started 10 games and was fifth on the team with 71 tackles. He had two sacks and recovered two fumbles.

JAGUARS SIGN SPECIAL TEAMS STANDOUT OSGOOD
The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed unrestricted free agent receiver Kassim Osgood, giving them a special teams standout.
Osgood, who spent the past seven seasons with San Diego, signed a three-year, $6.6 million contract with the Jaguars on Saturday.
The 6-foot-5, 220-pound Osgood made the Pro Bowl as a special teams ace in three of the last four seasons (2006, '07, '09). He left San Diego in hopes of catching more passes. Jacksonville, which parted ways with starter Torry Holt last month, will give him a shot.
Osgood, who signed with the Chargers as a rookie free agent in 2003, has 33 receptions for 647 yards and four touchdowns. He also has 96 special team tackles. He has missed just four games and has played in 64 straight.

REDSKINS SIGN VIKINGS GUARD HICKSThe Washington Redskins have signed their first free agent of 2010, addressing their thin offensive line by adding Artis Hicks.
Hicks signed a three-year deal Saturday that could be worth as much as $9 million.
Hicks can play guard or tackle, and the Redskins need both following the retirement of left tackle Chris Samuels and the release of right guard Randy Thomas. He has spent the last four seasons with Minnesota but has mainly been a backup, starting only 13 games over the last three years.
The Redskins also had a visit from 49ers tackle Tony Pashos but he left Redskins Park without a deal and is heading to Cleveland for a visit, a source told ESPN.com's John Clayton.

SAINTS ANNOUNCE PRIOLEAU, LECKEY DEALS
The New Orleans Saints announced Saturday they have re-signed backup safety Pierson Prioleau to a one-year deal instead of letting him leave through free agency.
Terms of the deal were unavailable. The 32-year-old Prioleau came to the Saints last season and started one game but played in all 16 and led the team with 21 special teams tackles.
ESPN.com's John Clayton first reported the deal Friday.
The team also agreed to terms with offensive lineman Nick Leckey, a six-year veteran from Kansas State. He played in eight regular-season games and all three playoff games in 2009.

FALCONS ANNOUNCE 6-YEAR DEAL WITH CB ROBINSONThe Atlanta Falcons have signed free-agent cornerback Dunta Robinson, the Houston Texans' career interceptions leader, to a six-year, $57 million contract.
The team confirmed the deal on Saturday. It was reported Friday that the Falcons and Robinson had agreed to terms.
Robinson's signing is important because the Falcons finished 28th in the league against the pass last season. The native of Athens, Ga., had 13 interceptions in the last six seasons with Houston. He will be introduced at a press conference on Monday.
The Texans made Robinson the 10th overall pick in the 2004 NFL draft. He had a career-high six interceptions as a rookie, and has started in 79 of 84 career games.

BRONCOS BRINGING BACK ARRINGTON
The Denver Broncos are bringing back J.J. Arrington, agreeing to a deal with the tailback who sat out last season with a right knee injury.
Denver also agreed to terms with defensive lineman Justin Bannan and cornerback Nathan Jones on Friday.
Arrington originally signed a four-year contract last March with Denver that was worth about $10 million, but the team waived him two months later when he failed a physical due to the balky knee.
The 27-year-old Arrington figures to be a third-down specialist for the Broncos, a role he played for Arizona in 2008 when the Cardinals advanced to the Super Bowl.
The Broncos also agreed to terms with two veterans who played for them last year: offensive lineman Russ Hochstein and receiver Brandon Lloyd.

RAIDERS REACH AGREEMENT WITH BARNESA day after the Oakland Raiders decided not to give him a contract tender, tackle Khalif Barnes reached an agreement on a one-year deal to stay with the team.
The 27-year-old Barnes played six games for the Raiders last season and started two after signing with the team for one season. According to the source, Barnes could make between $1.2 million and $1.3 million if he becomes a starter.
Barnes started 57 games over a four-year stretch with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was a second-round pick of the Jaguars in 2005.

PACKERS RELEASE MONTGOMERY, GIORDANO
The Green Bay Packers saved $2.5 million by releasing two veterans Friday -- defensive end Mike Montgomery and safety Matt Giordano.
Both players had five years of experience, but Montgomery has been with the Packers the longest. He was the Packers sixth-round pick in 2005. He played 56 games as a Packer and had eight starts, all in the 2008 season.
Giordano came to the Packers last season after being with the Indianapolis Colts from 2005 through 2008.

EAGLES DROP LB WITHERSPOON
The Philadelphia Eagles have released linebacker Will Witherspoon.
The 29-year-old Witherspoon was acquired from St. Louis in a trade last October. He was scheduled to earn $5 million this season. The move was announced Friday.
Witherspoon played 12 games for the Eagles, recording 56 tackles, one sack, one interception and one forced fumble. Injuries forced Philadelphia to try numerous linebacker combinations last season, and Witherspoon started in the middle and at the weakside spot.

SOURCE: FALCONS KEEP QB REDMAN AS BACKUPThe Atlanta Falcons have reached an agreement to retain Chris Redman as their backup quarterback to Matt Ryan.
According to a source, Redman agreed to a two-year, $5.6 million contract. An unrestricted free agent, Redman opted to stay in Atlanta rather than test the free-agent market.
Redman, 32, spent the past three seasons as the Falcons' backup. He started six games during those three years. His first four seasons were with the Baltimore Ravens.

Veteran punter Matt Turk has agreed to a one-year, $1.85 million deal to re-sign with the Houston Texans, according to a source.
According to the source, there is a $400,000 signing bonus included in the deal.
The 41-year-old punter has been with the Texans since 2007. He has kicked for eight teams during his 15-year career.

WILSON REACHES DEAL WITH CHARGERS
The San Diego Chargers reached a two-year deal to re-sign tight end Kris Wilson.
Wilson, a backup tight end with good pass-catching abilities, agreed to a two-year, $1.7 million deal, according to a source.
A seven-year veteran, Wilson is entering his third season with the Chargers. He played 19 games over the past two years. The 28-year-old tight end played four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs.
