About the play: Because of Vinny Testaverde's injury, the Jets don't throw the ball as well as last year. But they still run the ball well and often with Curtis Martin.

The Jets love running the ball. They feel they have to control the line of scrimmage and the clock. This play, "27 Flip," is run to attack the tackle and tight end area. This run is not designed to go all the way outside. It is designed to look like a wide run, then Martin will hit the hole before he clears the tight end area and look for cutback lanes.

It is imperative that the strong side of the offensive line push the defense by the seven hole, and that the weak side of the line (right side of the formation) cuts off backside pursuit so Martin can cut back and run to daylight.

Critical player: When to expect it: You will need a calculator to add up this run and all the others the Jets will run throughout the game.

Defensive strategy: The best defense for "27 Flip" is great backside play by the tackle and end, who must have discipline to stay in their lanes.
